A consumption read on what a Gen Z panel actually finished and discarded across food, beverage, and personal care over a trailing 3-month period — category reach, brand performance, name-brand vs. private-label share, product velocity, and top flavors — mapped against the June BLS Consumer Price Index.
About This Report
Each month, ECGO's Gen Z panel logs the food, beverage, and personal care products they've just finished and discarded. This is the June 2026 edition — a read on consumption after the purchase, where scanner and point-of-sale data go quiet. What a person actually bought, finished, tossed, and repurchased again; ecgo gives full detail on the lifecycle from start to finish.
Two patterns anchor this edition. Beverage reached the widest slice of the panel of any category, yet held firmly name-brand — even as the same shoppers have already moved to private label across pantry staples. And the June grocery groups with the steepest price increases are precisely where the panel has already gone store-brand, while the categories that got cheaper are where name brands keep a near-total hold. The report maps that alignment CPI group by CPI group, and is deliberate about calling it structural coincidence rather than a causal response — the loyalty test comes when prices turn.
One caveat we keep in view rather than bury: the panel is early-stage and still scaling, so these are directional signals within ECGO's panel, not representative market share. The methodology section states the reliability limits plainly. Read it for where Gen Z preference is heading now — ahead of the quarter-late syndicated read.
